Impact Stories

Meet some of the inspiring women who have taken part in the ELP, GILP, and CAMP. Their stories reflect the program’s impact on career growth, leadership development, and global representation.

'' I am so grateful for the privilege of being a beneficiary of the ELP initiative. ELP Warri was a game-changer for me! I got so much out of it, from sharpening my business skills to learning how to market my brand. It was really a whole lot. Since ELP Warri, my business has really taken off. I have incorporated several strategies into my business, such as improved marketing techniques, better financial management practices, and enhanced customer service. These changes have translated to increased sales and profitability in the past year. One big challenge I faced was accessing funding, but ELP Warri came through with the business grant. This helped me invest in materials and expand our product line, which has been instrumental for the growth of the Kelah brand.

'' From ELP Benin, I got an in-depth understanding of effective client relationships. The training opened my eyes to know that satisfied customers are marketers for my business & after the training, I applied this technique and noticed that most clients I followed up with or added incentives to, brought more clients to me. Some even went as far as boasting about my products on their timeline. I used to sell 100 pieces of Kpomo and 10kg of Crayfish a week but now my client's demand has increased. I sold over 300 pieces and 18kg within 4 days after the training! I even exported my products out of the country. Before attending, my goal was just to sell. I didn't see my customers as my gold asset. I thought they needed me more than I did them

'' I am Esohe Idehen, I am 18 years old, and I'm the founder of the Emissary Foundation. I'm passionate about the education and overall well-being of underprivileged children. I knew from the onset that the conference was going to be everything it turned out to be, but because it was a 3-day conference, I was skeptical about attending because I thought the duration was not feasible. 1 learned a lot during the conference and I got to meet with really amazing people (including our facilitators). There were times where I had to use my phone to record the lectures because my hand couldn't keep up with all the jotting. That was how much knowledge I got from the conference. From this program, I've learned that nothing is beyond my reach. And that you need to focus on adding value to the world and people around you.

'' Before I joined the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program (ELP), I knew I had a valuable skill in makeup artistry, but I lacked the knowledge and tools to truly stand out in my industry. Through the program, I learned the importance of effective marketing strategies, the power of public relations in increasing visibility, and the benefits of collaboration over competition. I also had the opportunity to receive a grant, which helped me purchase high-quality products and tools for my business, as well as invest in PR to further boost my brand. The program helped me realize the importance of collaboration, being strategic, and investing wisely in your business. It also taught me the value of customer satisfaction and the understanding that a business is not a charity house. By implementing these principles, I gained the confidence to charge my worth unapologetically for my services. And guess what? It paid off! I started getting more bookings than before. It's amazing how a shift in mindset can make such a big difference.

'' I really appreciate GILP for encouraging and building us up as future leaders in the society. The speaker taught us on different topics like building up self-confidence, menstrual hygiene, being a changemaker and many more. I was really happy that my school was invited to be a part of the event.

''For me, the GILP event changed my viewpoint. One of the speakers spoke to us about discovering our purpose. She told us that we first of all have to identify our talent and what we enjoy doing. They also taught us about menstrual hygiene and why it is very important as young girls.

''OH my God!!! What an experience? This has been a great experience for me. I have had the opportunity to learn, gain new skills, improve on myself, brand myself, impact myself and grow my self-confidence which I am willing to transfer to others and this is popping out through my ears. Yay!!! Leading Ladies Cohort 2021 has been a great six months program in which I was opportune to be selected among the other great mentees. Have had the best mentor I could ever wish for, Mrs. Dinah Modibo. She has been a great influence, a powerful lady who has taken me through this incredible journey, always acting ahead of me, and seriously, she is above expectations. I love her strength which I have copied and her know-how. I am ever grateful for meeting you and being the person chosen to work with you.

'' The greatest benefit of CAMP for me is the mentoring programming CAMP is a community of women supporting one another, the relationship I have built with my mentor. Listening to lessons learnt by other women in this journey is not quantifiable.. I am super thankful for Tunu, my mentor. She took my objectives for this program so seriously! Our discussions spanned career, personal life and rediscovering myself. We have so much in common, it makes the conversation flow seamlessly. Tunu has helped me become more deliberate, helped me dig deeper to understand why I take the decisions I do and how to be strategic in my decision making. The insights about myself that have come from our sessions have been liberating. If I were a company, Tunu would definitely be one of my board members! I am super thankful to know her and the ladies I have met on this journey. LLA, you have something great going on here. Don't stop!
